A group of approximately 40 dedicated Taekwon-do practitioners from across Australia and as far away as Thailand and Nepal attended this year’s International Instructor Course. It was a great opportunity to gather with like-minded people to explore the meaning, understanding and application of the art of Taekwon-Do.
Participants gave mini group presentations which focused on the basics of how the human body works and how this knowledge can then be integrated and applied to creating more efficient and effortless movement. This collaborative style of learning is often more meaningful, memorable and interesting.
Together we explored the skeletal system, muscular system and the components of fitness and basic nutrition and how these various elements enhance our understanding and application of the Training Secrets of Taekwon-Do. We also explored how motivation can be utilized to enhance our training experience and that of our students. It is through acquiring this knowledge that we can truly appreciate the depth of the art that our founder, General Choi Hong Hi, created and the immense legacy that he has left for us all.
The moral framework, the Tenets and the Philosophy ground us in the realization that Taekwon-Do is much more than kicks and punches. The feedback from the participants was most positive which encourages me to keep on learning and practicing for as long as my body and mind will allow.
I am thankful to have had the privilege of attending many seminars with General Choi Hong Hi. Every seminar that I conduct and every opportunity to teach and share my experience and knowledge is dedicated to him.
